FOXNews.com - Google Accused of Unfairly Rejecting Anti-Abortion Ad - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News: "It would have read: 'UK abortion law: Key views and news on abortion law from The Christian Institute. www.christian.org.uk'.
The Christian Institute, Britain's leading conservative Christian nonprofit organization, has been criticized for being overtly political. It has taken stands against gay marriage, euthanasia and abortion.
Google rejected the ad with the statement, 'Google policy does not permit the advertisement of websites that contain 'abortion and religion-related content,'' according to the Christian Institute's press release.
The Christian Institute counters that 'Google is happy to allow adverts for non-religious sites with views on abortion,' and is taking the Internet giant to court on grounds of religious discrimination."

Sect accused of marrying pubescent girls - Yahoo! News: "An FLDS member now living in the Texas Panhandle, Samuel Fischer, objected to the raid.
'It's religious persecution,' said Fischer, who moved to a ranch near Lockney with his two wives and 12 of his children from Hildale, Utah, last year.
The Texas investigation is the state's first of FLDS members, but prosecutors in Utah and Arizona have pursued several church members in recent years, including sect leader Warren Jeffs, who is serving two consecutive sentences of five years to life for being an accomplice to the rape of a 14-year-old wed to her cousin in Utah. He awaits trial on other charges in Arizona."

Petraeus: New troop buildup unlikely - Yahoo! News
Petraeus: New troop buildup unlikely - Yahoo! News: "WASHINGTON - The top U.S. military commander in Iraq said Wednesday that he is unlikely to call for another troop buildup in Iraq, even if security deteriorates after the extra American soldiers return home this summer.
Gen. David Petraeus told a House panel that such a move would be considered the last resort, in part because of the strain it would place on the Army. First, the military could try to reallocate existing troops to respond to any hotspots. It also would rely more on Iraqi forces, which are improving in capability, he said."
Never mind the mission. This is pure politics. The increase or reduction of troops was supposed to be based on what the commanders in Iraq needed to complete the mission, irregardless of the political situation here at home. That is no longer the case. This story goes down as score for the liberals.

Petraeus wants troop drawdowns suspended - Yahoo! News
Petraeus wants troop drawdowns suspended - Yahoo! News: "Petraeus described the security situation in Iraq as improved since he last appeared before Congress in September, but still fragile and the gains reversible.
He complained of Iranian support for insurgents and asserted that withdrawing U.S. forces too quickly would jeopardize security gains achieved over the past year.
Petraeus also said the recent flare-up of violence in Basra, in Baghdad and elsewhere points up the importance of the cease-fire declared last year by anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and highlighted the role Iran allegedly plays in funding and training Shiite militias through cells the U.S. military calls 'special groups.'
'Unchecked, the special groups pose the greatest long-term threat to the viability of a democratic Iraq,' Petraeus said."

Alibre CEO Blog: Saving 100 petajoules of energy and 14 million metric tons of CO2
Alibre CEO Blog: Saving 100 petajoules of energy and 14 million metric tons of CO2: "It’s estimated that in the United States alone, there are about 158 million ceiling fans installed, annually consuming approximately 150PJ – that's petajoules for those not familiar with the abbreviation. Fans designed with the high-efficiency motors chosen by John can reduce that by about 100PJ, eliminating 14 million metric tons of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere ever year."
I thought it was funny that it seems more important to talk about CO2 instead how much $ this saves. He went from 75 watts to 25 watts with the same output. That is significant (but I looking at saving money, I couldn't care less about CO2 emissions).
Air Force Thunderbirds Inspire Childhood Dreams that Come True
"From the time Bob Carlton was five years old and his parents took him to see the Thunderbirds perform at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he dreamed of an adventure in the air. Bob said that watching the Thunderbirds was the most amazing thing he had ever seen, and it inspired him to learn aerobatics, putting on spectacular shows for millions of people every year.
Armed with that inspiration and a strong determination, Bob, a rocket scientist for a major national laboratory, worked to make his dream come true in his spare time. He started flying hang gliders at the age of 19 and later secured a commercial pilot’s certificate, logging more than 2000 hours and performing aerobatics professionally for the past 15 years."
