Arne Duncan: Teacher pay should start at $60K | Iowa Independent: "In Iowa, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average beginning teacher salary is $31,753. The average teacher salary in Iowa is more than $10,000 below what Duncan recommended as starting wages."

Why stop at $60K? Doesn't everybody agree that teachers are far more important than say, pro athletes? Teachers should start at at least twice the starting salary of a pro baseball, football, or basketball player. That would be about $1 million/year.

Fortunately we can afford this since the debt ceiling was just raised.
