Alibre CEO Blog: Saving 100 petajoules of energy and 14 million metric tons of CO2

Alibre CEO Blog: Saving 100 petajoules of energy and 14 million metric tons of CO2: "It’s estimated that in the United States alone, there are about 158 million ceiling fans installed, annually consuming approximately 150PJ – that's petajoules for those not familiar with the abbreviation. Fans designed with the high-efficiency motors chosen by John can reduce that by about 100PJ, eliminating 14 million metric tons of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere ever year." I thought it was funny that it seems more important to talk about CO2 instead how much $ this saves. He went from 75 watts to 25 watts with the same output. That is significant (but I looking at saving money, I couldn't care less about CO2 emissions).

Air Force Thunderbirds Inspire Childhood Dreams that Come True

"From the time Bob Carlton was five years old and his parents took him to see the Thunderbirds perform at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he dreamed of an adventure in the air. Bob said that watching the Thunderbirds was the most amazing thing he had ever seen, and it inspired him to learn aerobatics, putting on spectacular shows for millions of people every year. Armed with that inspiration and a strong determination, Bob, a rocket scientist for a major national laboratory, worked to make his dream come true in his spare time. He started flying hang gliders at the age of 19 and later secured a commercial pilot’s certificate, logging more than 2000 hours and performing aerobatics professionally for the past 15 years."

Court rejects La. death sentence | Tri-City Herald : Mid-Columbia news

Court rejects La. death sentence | Tri-City Herald : Mid-Columbia news: "WASHINGTON The Supreme Court has thrown out the death sentence in a Louisiana murder case, citing racial prejudice in the actions of a prosecutor who called the murder trial his 'O.J. Simpson case' and kept blacks off the jury. By a 7-2 vote, the justices said prosecutor Jim Williams improperly excluded blacks from the jury that convicted Allen Snyder of killing his estranged wife's companion. Snyder is black and the jurors were white. Justice Samuel Alito, writing for the majority, said the trial judge should have blocked Williams from striking a black juror."

My Way News - Obama Wins Mississippi Democratic Race: "WASHINGTON (AP) - With a six-week breather before the next primary, Hillary Rodham Clinton turned her attention to Pennsylvania and beyond to counter the latest in a string of victories by Barack Obama in Southern states with large black voting blocs." (emphasis added) Why would that matter?

My Way News - Ferraro's Remarks About Obama Decried

My Way News - Ferraro's Remarks About Obama Decried:

"WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday she disagrees with Geraldine Ferraro, one of her fundraisers and the 1984 vice presidential candidate, for suggesting that Barack Obama only achieved his status in the presidential race because he's black. In a brief interview with The Associated Press, Clinton was questioned about Ferraro's remarks.

The Obama campaign has called on the New York senator to denounce them.

Ferraro told the Daily Breeze of Torrance, Calif.: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

The newspaper published the interview last Friday.

Clinton said, "I do not agree with that," and later added, "It's regrettable that any of our supporters - on both sides, because we both have this experience - say things that kind of veer off into the personal."

"We ought to keep this on the issues. there are differences between us" on approaches to health care, energy, experience."

This is going to be fun.

My Way News - McCain Flashes Temper at Reporter

My Way News - McCain Flashes Temper at Reporter: "NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Republican Sen. John McCain, showing a flash of the temper he is known for, repeatedly cut off a reporter Friday when asked whether he had spoken to Democratic Sen. John Kerry about being his vice president in 2004. 'Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that, that I had a conversation,' McCain told the reporter. 'And you know it, too. No. You know it, too. No. You do know. You do know.'" More love from the media that the Maverick loved so much.

My Way News - NYC Police Probe Times Square Explosion: "NEW YORK (AP) - An explosive device caused minor damage to an empty military recruiting station in Times Square early Thursday, shaking guests in hotel rooms high above 'the crossroads of the world.' Police blocked off the area to investigate the explosion, which occurred at about 3:45 a.m., shattering the station's glass entryway. No one was injured. 'If it is something that's directed toward American troops than it's something that's taken very seriously and is pretty unfortunate,' said Army Capt. Charlie Jaquillard, who is the commander of Army recruiting in Manhattan."

My Way News - Clinton Hints at Shared Ticket

My Way News - Clinton Hints at Shared Ticket: "WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton, fresh off a campaign saving comeback, hinted Wednesday at the possibility of sharing the Democratic presidential ticket with Barack Obama - with her at the top. Obama played down his losses, stressing that he still holds the lead in number of delegates." Wow! I just posted the opposite scenario yesterday. (Which I think is more plausible still.)

My Way News - Venezuela Troops Head to Colombia Border: "Chavez deployed troops in response to Colombia's killing of a top rebel leader on Ecuadorean soil over the weekend. Ecuador has also sent troops to its border with Colombia, denouncing the military strike as a violation of its sovereignty."

My Way News - Day of Reckoning for Clinton, Obama

My Way News - Day of Reckoning for Clinton, Obama: "'I feel really good about today,' Clinton told reporters after a visit to a polling place at a Houston elementary school in a largely Hispanic neighborhood. 'Let's wait and see what the voters have actually decided - I think it's going to turn out well.'" What happens if Hillary runs as Barack Milhouse Obama's VP? This could happen. I wouldn't have expected it a year or even 3 months ago, but at the prospect of being finished for good, the Clintons may choose this route. I'm just putting it out there. Anything is possible this election.
