Yahoo! News - Bush Criticizes U.N. 'Stingy' Comment

Yahoo! News - Bush Criticizes U.N. 'Stingy' Comment: "Measured another way, as a percentage of gross national product, the OECD's figures on development aid show that as of April, none of the world's richest countries donated even 1 percent of its gross national product. Norway was highest, at 0.92 percent; the United States was last, at 0.14 percent." Stupid, stupid UN and AP. Over 100,000 people dead. Maybe a million will be dead when this is all said and done, and the UN with AP's willing assistance has to make this into some sort of pissing match. The US has just about had it with these guys, and I'm talking about the American population. There will be a backlash to this.

U.N. official slams U.S. as 'stingy' over aid - The Washington Times: Nation/Politics - December 28, 2004: "The Bush administration yesterday pledged $15 million to Asian nations hit by a tsunami that has killed more than 22,500 people, although the United Nations' humanitarian-aid chief called the donation 'stingy.' 'The United States, at the president's direction, will be a leading partner in one of the most significant relief, rescue and recovery challenges that the world has ever known,' said White House deputy press secretary Trent Duffy. But U.N. Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland suggested that the United States and other Western nations were being 'stingy' with relief funds, saying there would be more available if taxes were raised. Reporter Provides Account of Mosul Attack

Yahoo! News - Reporter Provides Account of Mosul Attack: "Maj. James Zollar, the unit's acting commander, spoke to more than a dozen of his officers in a voice thick with emotion. He urged them to keep their troops focused on their missions. 'This is a tragic, tragic thing for us but we still have missions,' he told them. 'It's us, the leaders, who have to pull them together.' Just hours before the blast, Zollar had awarded a Purple Heart to a soldier from the 276th who was wounded in a mortar attack on another part of the base in October. Zollar eventually turned the emergency meeting over to Chaplain Eddie Barnett. He led the group in prayer. 'Help us now, God, in this time of this very tragic circumstance,' Barnett said. 'We pray for your healing upon our wounded soldiers.' With heads hung low, the soldiers trudged outside. They had work to do."

It's Time to Stop Being Hit...a letter from Michael Moore

Welcome to MichaelMoore.com! : Mike's Letter: "We have a mandate to be as radical and liberal and steadfast as we need to be. The progressive beliefs and social justice we stand for, our core, must not be altered. We are 57 million strong. We are building from the bottom up. We are meeting, on the net, in church basements, at work, in small groups, and right now, we are crying, because we are trying to break free and we don't know how." These guys are absolutely nuts! Now they are 57 MILLION strong! That's just ludicrous. Really, be careful reading this if you are prone to die by laughing. Please, oh please, Michael Moore, run for office. I can't wait!

Attack on U.S. Base in Iraq Leaves 24 Dead

My Way News: "BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - An explosion ripped through a mess tent at a military base near Mosul where hundreds of U.S. soldiers had just sat down to lunch Tuesday, killing 24 people and wounding more than 60, officials said. A radical Muslim group, the Ansar al-Sunnah Army, claimed responsibility for the deadliest attack on a U.S. base in Iraq." Slaughter At The Trough Away In A Manger Will the New York Times bother to condemn this? Forcing someone in a headlock is a no no, but beheading civilians is a-ok I guess. The enemy defines the "rules" of war. We won't ever lower our morals to do what they consider just. Since NYT and the other liberal media believes headlocks and sleep deprivation amounts to torture, maybe we should consider the tactics of the enemy? That seems to be legitimized by our own media. The NYT should be based in Fallujah along side the UN. In fact, I'd being willing to help pay for that move.

Bush: Social Security Reform Needed Now

Yahoo! News - Bush: Social Security Reform Needed Now: "Bush has ruled out an increase in payroll taxes to pay for the overhaul. Experts say he would have little choice but to borrow the funds, perhaps $1 trillion to $2 trillion, in order to continue paying benefits for current and near-retirees whose checks are funded by workers' payroll taxes." I've always wondered who these "experts" are. To get this through, I've always thought that it would be ok if I choose to do it, then my taxes would be increased to pay for it. I'm willing to do that.

Bush supports strong dollar

"WASHINGTON (AP) President Bush has pledged to work with Congress to assure markets the U.S. supports a strong dollar." This type of statement signals the end of the rising euro. Evidently, the US has decided that europe has suffered enough. This is like the US attempting to extend on olive branch to europe. I think that the US has really been controlling the rising euro behind the scenes to punish europe and to raise US exports. Too much dollar weakness will be detrimental in the long run. (One of those problems has been China). So now it's time to reverse course a bit. If the dollar gets stronger soon, then I think this validates my point. (If not, oh well, wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. ;) )

Judge Suspended For Wearing Blackface To Party

NBC 4 - News - Judge Suspended For Wearing Blackface To Party So, my question is (and I'm being legit here) why was the judge racist? Because of the black face, or because of the black face and jail jumpsuit? If a non-black person wears black face makeup, is that racist in of itself? If a non-white person where's "white face" makeup, is that racist also? And why? My thoughts are that society will view wearing makeup to look like a person of a different color (race) is racist. That to me seems to be the liberal thought process and since the main stream media is liberal, and the media "defines" what society is thinking... Well, that's how I come to that conclusion. My self: no I don't think dressing up or wearing makeup should ever be considered a racist act (by itself). In my opinion, it's truly racist to jump to the conclusion that just because someone wears a costume and/or makeup that he/she is being racist.

Yahoo! News - Ohio Electors Vote Despite Challenge

Yahoo! News - Ohio Electors Vote Despite Challenge Ohio Electors Vote Despite Challenge By CARRIE SPENCER, Associated Press Writer COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio delegation to the Electoral College (news - web sites) cast its votes for President Bush (news - web sites) on Monday, hours after dissident groups asked the state Supreme Court to review the outcome of the state's presidential race. As members of the Electoral College met across the nation to affirm the results of last month's election, the 20 GOP electors in Ohio voted unanimously for Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites). "The vast majority of people understand this election is over," said Gov. Bob Taft, who was at the electors' voting session in the state Senate chamber. The challengers who went to the Supreme Court question whether Bush won the key swing state by 119,000 votes, guaranteeing his victory over Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites). The court did not act on their request before the electors cast their ballots. The Rev. Jesse Jackson (news - web sites) and attorney Cliff Arnebeck of the Massachusetts-based Alliance for Democracy accused President Bush's campaign of "high-tech vote stealing." Jackson said the challengers noticed Bush generally received more votes in counties that use optical-scan voting machines and questioned whether the machines were calibrated to record votes for Bush. Critics of the election claim there were disparities in vote totals for Democrats, too few voting machines in Democrat-leaning precincts, organized campaigns directing voters to the wrong polling place and confusion over the counting of provisional ballots by voters whose names did not appear in the records at polling places. The challengers allege unlawful ballots were added to the total and legally cast ballots were altered. Without listing specific evidence, the complaint alleges 130,656 votes for Kerry and John Edwards (news - web sites) in 36 counties were somehow switched to count for the Bush-Cheney ticket. The complaint also cites several reports of Election Day problems, including people who allegedly saw their vote "hop" to Bush on touch-screen machines after they voted for Kerry. If the court decides to hear the challenge, it can declare a new winner or throw out the results. "While the existence of anomalies could possibly be explained by human error or technical malfunctions, the fact that, in every case in Ohio known to the contestors, the error favored the Bush-Cheney ticket, strongly indicates manipulation or fraud," the challengers said in a court filing. While members of the Ohio delegation to the Electoral College voted in the state Senate chamber, about 10 protesters walked a sidewalk nearby. State police said the group was denied a permit to demonstrate on Statehouse grounds. Congressional Democrats sent a letter to the governor on Monday, asking him to delay the electoral vote or at least consider the results unofficial until the disputes are resolved. "The vote is required to move forward by law, and it will more forward," Taft spokesman Orest Holubec said. "The vote has been certified by the secretary of state, and all of the valid provisionals have been counted." Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, said that for the challengers' accusations to be true, officials of both parties would have had to conspire to throw the election. "That's simply a ridiculous assertion," he said. Led by a coalition representing the Green and Libertarian parties, the challengers are paying for recounts in each of Ohio's 88 counties that will begin this week. The recounts are not expected to be complete until next week. Kerry issued a statement last week saying reports of voting problems should be investigated to ensure there are no doubts in future elections. His campaign does not dispute that Bush won the election, but supports the recounts. Elsewhere, an unknown Democrat earned a footnote in history by casting one of Minnesota's 10 Electoral College votes for John Edwards, Kerry's running mate — the state's first "faithless elector," the dubious name for those who bypass the candidate who won the state's popular vote in the general election. No one claimed credit for the Edwards vote. Several electors said they suspected someone unconsciously mixed up the two Johns on the ticket. "I'm certainly glad that the Electoral College is not separated by one vote," elector Michael Meuers said. In New Mexico, a district judge in Santa Fe refused to order an immediate recount of presidential votes, saying the matter should wait until the state canvassing board takes it up on Tuesday. The board's chairman, Gov. Bill Richardson, reiterated his opposition to the statewide recount sought by the Libertarian and Green parties' candidates, saying it "will not reform our election laws." The parties say a recount would point to possible problems with various types of voting machines. Congress announces nationwide totals in January.

Cleveland Paper Cites Voter Problems

Yahoo! News - Cleveland Paper Cites Voter Problems: "The Cleveland Plain Dealer's review of voting patterns in Cuyahoga County showed that many of the approximately 1,000 voters in the two precincts cast ballots just steps away at machines meant for the other precinct." Pathetic. 1000 votes! This is surreal how this story can make the national news. Bush first won by 130,000, now it's 119,000. Oh boy, Kerry might get a few hundred more. I am so fed up with the press and MoveOn and Moore and all the rest of the leftist wacko's out there pretending that there's a chance for Kerry to become president. I'm also tired of Ohio being looked at as THE state that put Bush over the top. So why bother voting if you don't live in Ohio! It's as if none of the other states count. This is exactly what they did in 2000 with Florida. Trust me, if Bush won Florida (or Ohio) and no other states, he would NOT be president.

I mean, the possibity is that you can simply transfer your brain cells to a new creature. If you don't believe in the soul, then this would seem very appealing. A way to live forever... to be like a god. Exactly what Satan wants us to think... (Read Genesis chapt. 3) " 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Yahoo! News - Dollar woes worsen as rival currencies hit new heights: "The euro's seemingly inexorable rise to record highs has set alarm bells ringing in the eurozone, where policymakers at the European Central Bank were meeting in Frankfurt on monetary policy." I had a cousin who taught me how to play super-chess, two sets of chess pieces on a board 4 times the normal size. Chess by itself is hard enough to figure out, this was simply ridiculous. The world economy is like super-chess compared to a national economy. There's no super-computer that's going to figure this out. I'm thinking the US is pushing this and the EU is also pushing this and they both have their reasons and nobody really knows who's winning. But someone is going to start to emerge as a victor sooner or later. The only advantage for the EU is that their currency is increasing it's value as a business world currency. That could prove to be a big advantage, if the EU manufacturing sector survives. I think we are getting closer to a massive correction and my guess is it will occur when China's yuan stops being pegged to the dollar. Maybe next spring.

Putin: Ukraine Revote Would Be Fruitless

Now that's interesting. I usually fall on the other side of Putin, but I'm squarely in his corner with this (except...). I keep seeing reports of voter fraud, but have yet to see any substantial evidence. It seems everyone wants a revote except Russia, which makes sense, because as it stands now, they benefit. So what happens now if the pro-west guy wins? There's still going to be a lot of people really pissed off (and even more so), enough to start a civil war most likely. The thing that is completely being missed is how this proves our electorate system is better. There shouldn't be direct elections for the president exactly because of this circumstance, something we found ourselves in just 4 years ago.

Maybe none of that would be considered torture since the Red Cross hasn't yet complained about it......

Wal-Mart's China inventory to hit US$18b this year

Wal-Mart's China inventory to hit US$18b this year: "The world's largest retailer, Wal-Mart Stores Inc, says its inventory of stock produced in China is expected to hit US$18 billion this year, keeping the annual growth rate of over 20 per cent consistent over two years. The trend is expected to continue, company officials revealed. 'We expect our procurement stock from China to continue to grow at a similar rate in line with Wal-Mart's growth worldwide, if not faster,' said Lee Scott, the president and CEO (chief executive officer) of Wal-Mart." I don't like seeing this trend. I know Nixon felt that opening trade up with China would improve the lives of the Chinese and that would eventually cause the people to demand a free society and the government would have to acquiesce, but I think that's been proven wrong. A large number did revolt but was obviously put down by force. China has allowed entrepreneurs to exist outside government control, but only to a point (that they define). A communist government is a government without limit, and freedom can never exist under an unlimited government.

How Kerry whistleblower suffered for truth

Printer Friendly: "How Kerry whistleblower suffered for truth: This is the story of a military veteran whistleblower. He spoke out against someone he thought was dangerous for the nation, talked to local newspapers, and appeared on talk shows. In return, he was vilified by reporters, threatened by a political operative, fired by his company, and now he's broke. His name is Steve Gardner. He's also known as 'The 10th Brother,' as in Band of Brothers. He's one of two members of Sen. John Kerry's 12 Vietnam swift boat crew members who refused to stand with Kerry at the Democratic Convention. The other man remained silent. 'They said I had a political agenda. I had no and have no political agenda whatsoever. I saw John Kerry on television saying he was running for the Democratic nomination for president, and I knew I couldn't ever see him as commander in chief -- not after what I saw in Vietnam, not after the lies I heard him tell about what he says he did and what he says others did.'"

Ukraine President Endorses New Election

Ukraine President Endorses New Election The Ukraine is being bounced back and forth like a ping pong ball. It seems this election will decide whether they move pro-west or pro-russian. They are so important because they have lots of nukes. I hope they move closer to the US for obvious reasons. I just can't imagine, though, having a new election here in the US for president. I just don't think it's going to improve the situation.

Paralyzed woman walks again after stem cell therapy

Paralyzed woman walks again after stem cell therapy: "A South Korean woman paralyzed for 20 years is walking again after scientists say they repaired her damaged spine using stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood. Hwang Mi-Soon, 37, had been bedridden since damaging her back in an accident two decades ago. Last week her eyes glistened with tears as she walked again with the help of a walking frame at a press conference where South Korea researchers went public for the first time with the results of their stem-cell therapy. They said it was the world's first published case in which a patient with spinal cord injuries had been successfully treated with stem cells from umbilical cord blood. Though they cautioned that more research was needed and verification from international experts was required, the South Korean researchers said Hwang's case could signal a leap forward in the treatment of spinal cord injuries. The use of stem cells from cord blood could also point to a way to side-step the ethical dispute over the controversial use of embryos in embryonic stem-cell research. 'We have glimpsed at a silver lining over the horizon,' said Song Chang-Hoon, a member of the research team and a professor at Chosun University's medical school in the southwestern city of Kwangju. 'We were all surprised at the fast improvements in the patient.' Under TV lights and flashing cameras, Hwang stood up from her wheelchair and shuffled forward and back a few paces with the help of the frame at the press conference here on Thursday. 'This is already a miracle for me,' she said. 'I never dreamed of getting to my feet again.' Medical research has shown stem cells can develop into replacement cells for damaged organs or body parts. Unlocking that potential could see cures for diseases that are at present incurable, or even see the body generat" The important thing to note here is where the stem cells came from (umbilical cord blood), not from the death of a human (also known by some as a fetus).

CNN.com - G20: Focus on weak dollar's impact - Nov 19, 2004

CNN.com - G20: Focus on weak dollar's impact - Nov 19, 2004: "If the dollar sinks to $1.40 as some economists predict and oil stays near $50 a barrel, analysts at JPMorgan reckon a 10 percent rise in the euro could shave 1 percentage point from euro zone GDP, slash earnings growth in half and wipe 6 percent off the value of European blue chip shares in 2005." I sometimes entertain the idea that we (US) are trying to punish Europe by pushing the dollar lower against the euro. I have yet to read anything that suggests that a stronger euro is good for Europe. I've read several times that a weaker dollar can help the US economically by making our goods cheaper to export abroad. The question is how weaker can the dollar be before it starts to unstabilize? My guess is 1.50, but that's just a wild guess.

Weak Dollar Policy - Daily FX

Weak Dollar Policy - Daily FX: "If President Bush publicly announced that he supports a weak dollar, this would cause unnecessary volatility in the currency and deter investments. None of which would be beneficial for the US economy. As a result, the only alternative left for the US is to run a clandestine weak dollar policy. "

AP Wire | 11/24/2004 | Ukraine Awaits Final Election Results

AP Wire | 11/24/2004 | Ukraine Awaits Final Election Results: "Yushchenko on Tuesday claimed victory over the Kremlin-backed prime minister, Viktor Yanukovych, in Sunday's run-off election, which many Western observers said was seriously flawed and did not meet democratic standards. While nearly complete official results have put Yanukovych ahead, exit polls showed Yushchenko winning." I first heard about this just 2 days ago. It's funny how there's so much around the world going on involving "tensions." This is one of the main reasons we do not have a popular election of our president (US). What? you say. "Yes we do!" No we don't. The president is elected by a group of electorates designated by each state legislature. The constitution (that old yellow looking paper that still defines the structure of our country, but just barely) only states that-- no popular vote. It's a travesty that the media (with the help of incompetent teaching) has led people to believe that they vote for the president. It's also a myth that the electoral system was put in place simply because, at the time, we didn't have the ability to have direct elections. It was put in place because it was to prevent "mob rule." The authors of the constitution had the wisdom to know that the world is ruled by the aggressive use of force. By providing a non-direct yet fair way of electing the president keeps us from turning into a bunch of mobs (or so it was envisioned, it hasn't always worked obviously, but I think it's been the best system yet).

CBS News | DeLay Appears To Be Off The Hook | November 22, 2004 11:01:19

It seems the attempt to "limit" soft money is never going to work. You just can't stop it. The only thing campaign finance reform has done is get people to find more scrupulous ways to get the money. It's also given Special Interest more power than they've ever had, exactly what cfr was supposed to stop. The right way to do this is to have full disclosure with no limits. The electorate needs to know who is giving what and to whom. Politicians should also use that information in defining their opponents. Bush pulls secret service agent out of crowd

"Bush reached into a small crowd, where people were arguing and pushing one another, and pulled the agent through the door of center. (Full story) Bush then turned around, cocked his head proudly at his maneuver and began to greet his hosts." That's what appears on Michael Moore's website quoting CNN. Come'on, "cocked his head proudly at his maneuver". I thought that's a bit brazen even for CNN. Btw, I checked the CNN story link and that phrase is not there. So either Mikey added it himself or CNN pulled it. Mikey's version: "Bush reached into a small crowd, where people were arguing and pushing one another, and pulled the agent through the door of center. (Full story) Bush then turned around, cocked his head proudly at his maneuver and began to greet his hosts." CNN's actual posted story: "Bush then walked back inside the center and began to greet his hosts."

GOP Tosses Ethics Rule so DeLay Can Keep Post

Michael Moore is talented at being insane. He loves to point out hyprocrisy with the Republicans while completely ignoring his own hyprocrisy and the Democrat's. He wants you to think that the Republicans are power mongers and will do anything to keep it. Well, that's simply ridiculous. Republicans are the first to turn against their own leaders when ethics issues arise. Time and time again Republicans are thrown out of office because of an ethics issue and it's because their own party abandons them. Think of Nixon, Gringrich, Duke, countless others. On the other hand if Democrats act unethical, they're praised by their party. Think of Clinton (lied under oath as President), Byrd (former member of KKK, has used the word "White-nig***). Welcome to MichaelMoore.com!

I've heard it looks like a trailer. I was thinking it would seem right if a trailer park of "massage" parlors were adjacent to it. President Bushes sounded very cordial. They are upstanding people. They'll both be portrayed as liers I'm sure.
