My Way News - Senate Blocks Immigration Bill

My Way News - Senate Blocks Immigration Bill: "WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate drove a stake Thursday through President Bush's plan to legalize millions of unlawful immigrants, likely postponing major action on immigration until after the 2008 elections. The bill's supporters fell 14 votes short of the 60 needed to limit debate and clear the way for final passage of the legislation, which critics assailed as offering amnesty to illegal immigrants. The vote was 46 to 53 in favor of limiting the debate. Senators in both parties said the issue is so volatile that Congress is highly unlikely to revisit it this fall or next year, when the presidential election will increasingly dominate American politics." Victory! At least victory against amnesty. Now its time to really put on pressure to fully secure our borders. I'm talking about all borders, north and south as well as ports. We are at war, in case you didn't know. The enemy wants to kill us (Americans, conservative or liberal) anyway they can. We must know who comes in to the country. I hope the hoard of citizens that forced this amnesty bill to die will not let up on securing the borders. I know it's more the administration that has failed us than congress, but congress can certainly help push the president to do the right thing.

Ad Hoc Electronics - Reliable Wireless Monitoring & Control Products, RF Expertise: "Advantage Ad Hoc Electronics Ad Hoc Electronics is a complete wireless solution provider that supplies OEMs, integrators and electricians with reliable wireless products and custom engineering. Ad Hoc's data radio modems, RF modules, 802.11g WiFi routers, and wireless light switches are reliable, easy-to-deploy and simple-to-use." This is cool. No wires, no batteries. It takes about 1.6 lbs. to operate the switch, which doesn't seem like a lot, but maybe it's pretty stiff for your finger. I then wonder if there is a snap sound or not. But that may be okay either way.

My Way News - Immigration Bill Faces Crucial Vote

My Way News - Immigration Bill Faces Crucial Vote

WASHINGTON (AP) - Conservative Republican senators and a handful of Democrats are trying to put a final knife in President Bush's plan for legalizing millions of unlawful immigrants.

A broad immigration bill, embracing what critics call amnesty, survived a series of unfriendly amendments Wednesday. Supporters pointed to the bill's tighter borders and workplace rules to keep it alive.

Both sides agreed the crucial vote occurs Thursday. Supporters must gain 60 votes in the 100-member chamber to limit debate and clear the way for a roll call on final passage, perhaps by Friday. Anything less will likely doom the legislation until a new president and Congress take office in 2009.

We wait with bated breath.

My Way News - Video Post Shows Captured BBC Reporter

My Way News - Video Post Shows Captured BBC Reporter: "GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - A video recording released Monday shows kidnapped British journalist Alan Johnston wearing an apparent explosives belt of the type suicide bombers use and warning it will be detonated if an attempt is made to free him by force. The video, about one minute, 42 seconds long, was posted on a Web site that has been used by militant groups in the past. It opens with the title 'Alan's Appeal' in both English and Arabic and features the logo of the Army of Islam, a shadowy group that has claimed responsibility for snatching Johnston, a British Broadcasting Corp. correspondent. 'Captors tell me that very promising negotiations were ruined when the Hamas movement and the British government decided to press for a military solution to this kidnapping,' Johnston says in the recording, looking nervous and stressed. 'And the situation is now very serious, as you can see.' Johnston is seen wearing a red sweater with a blue and white checked vest strapped around his body - the apparent bomb belt."

My Way News - Judge Won't Delay Libby Prison Term

My Way News - Judge Won't Delay Libby Prison Term: "WASHINGTON (AP) - A federal judge said Thursday he will not delay a 2 1/2-year prison sentence for I. Lewis 'Scooter' Libby in the CIA leak case, a ruling that could send the former White House aide to prison within weeks. U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton's decision will send Libby's attorneys rushing to an appeals court to block the sentence and could force President Bush to consider calls from Libby's supporters to pardon the former aide." The president should pardon Libby before he spends one night in prison. He deserves that. Why is president Bush so eager to pardon illegal immigrants and not a railroaded member of his administration?

My Way News - Lawmakers Profit From Gold Mines, Books

My Way News - Lawmakers Profit From Gold Mines, Books: "According to financial disclosure forms filed by House and Senate members Thursday, Speaker Pelosi, through her marriage, is a millionaire many times over. Reid, whose leadership post depends on holding onto a fragile majority in the Senate, can always fall back on his gold mining claims in Nevada." They are not in for the money. They are in it for the power.

My Way News - Bail Denied for Alleged 'Spam King'

My Way News - Bail Denied for Alleged 'Spam King': "Federal prosecutors allege that Soloway has sent tens of millions of e-mail messages since 2003 to advertise his company, which offered software to send out broadcast e-mails. For $495, customers could have an ad sent to 20 million e-mail addresses or receive software allowing them to send up to 80 million e-mails. The Spamhaus Project, an international anti-spam organization, listed Soloway as one of about 135 spammers deemed responsible for as much as 80 percent of all junk e-mail." Prosecuting spammers in a very public and severe way is the only thing that's going to slow down the deluge of spam email. I hope to see many other cases worldwide like this one.

Wireless breakthrough delivers electrical energy without power cord | Chicago Tribune

Wireless breakthrough delivers electrical energy without power cord | Chicago Tribune
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- In a perfect world, there'd be no wires. They clutter the view, get tangled behind desks and limit how far networks can reach. That's why the telegraph gave way to the radio. Cell phones unstrung telecommunications. Wi-Fi liberated computer data. Now the last knotty wire that seemed destined to remain, the power cord, could be on its way out. Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers announced last week that they had made a 60-watt light bulb glow by sending it energy wirelessly, potentially previewing a future in which cell phones and other gadgets get juice without having to be plugged in.
This is truly amazing. The whole "noise cancellation" principle blows my mind and makes me wonder how it will affect fundamental mathematics. But now that MIT is having success with "re-instating" the canceled noise, I am truly amazed. Sending power through the air is something I've thought about for years. I like to think of it as encryption. The power source encrypts the amperage so it is undetectable and hopefully harmless. Then it sends it through the air and and a receiver collects it and then decrypts it so it can be used. They are 40 to 45% efficient according to the article. What happens to the 55 to 60% of power that is not used? I hope that when this is eventually implemented we don't have to worry about our livers being cooked accidentally!

My Way News - Screaming Paris Hilton Sent Back to Jail: "LOS ANGELES (AP) - Screaming and crying, Paris Hilton was escorted out of a courtroom and back to jail Friday after a judge ruled that she must serve out her entire 45-day sentence behind bars rather than in her Hollywood Hills home." This story blows my mind. I'm, first, amazed that it is nationally news. Then I'm amazed I was ever amazed. It's makes me crack up.
