Heated campaign souring Democrats on rival candidates - Yahoo! News: "In the AP-Yahoo News poll which has tracked the same 2,000 people since November Obama supporters with negative views of the New York senator have grown from 35 percent in November to 44 percent this month, including one-quarter with very unfavorable feelings. Those Obama backers who don't like Clinton say they would vote for Republican candidate John McCain over her by a two-to-one margin, with many undecided. As for Clinton supporters, those with unfavorable views of Obama have grown from 26 percent to 42 percent during this same period including a doubling to 20 percent of those with very negative opinions. The Clinton backers with unfavorable views of Obama say they would vote for McCain over him by nearly three-to-one, though many haven't made up their minds." Operation Chaos! Thanks to Rush, I've been able to be distracted enough to keep from going into deep depression because of our candidate. McCain may win, but it definitely won't be because of core republicans.

Tax rebates start showing up in bank accounts Monday - Yahoo! News

Tax rebates start showing up in bank accounts Monday - Yahoo! News: "The rebates were the centerpiece of the government's $168 billion economic stimulus package enacted in February and are designed to bolster consumer spending and lift the economy out of the doldrums." Two things come to mind. One, it started at $75 billion, then $100 billion, then $150 billion, now it's $168 billion. I predicted $200 billion I think. If we add the cost for the IRS to do this, I bet I was pretty close. Two, if the IRS can pump this out much faster than anticipated (and our benchmark is 2001) then why can't we make taxes simpler also? Forget the "Fair tax". It'll never happen. My taxes are withheld every paycheck. Let's get rid of filing at least. Just overtax us and give a tax rebate once a year and we'll all be happy. (sarcasm there if you didn't pick it up)

Dream Ticket Sounds Good to Many Democrats (Except the Candidates) - New York Times: "Imagine President Barack Obama is preparing his first State of the Union message. Would he want Vice President Hillary Rodham Clinton tut-tutting with edits or suggesting how she could write it better? Would he want to hear Second Spouse Bill Clinton wax on and on about favorite lines from his own speeches?"

Rice says Carter was warned against meeting with Hamas - Yahoo! News

Rice says Carter was warned against meeting with Hamas - Yahoo! News: "Rice, attending a regional meeting on Iraq's security and future, contradicted Carter's assertions that he never got a clear signal from the State Department. Rice told reporters that the U.S. thought the visit could confuse the message that the U.S. will not deal with Hamas. 'I just don't want there to be any confusion,' Rice said. 'The United States is not going to deal with Hamas and we had certainly told President Carter that we did not think meeting with Hamas was going to help' further a political settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. Carter said top Hamas leaders told him during seven hours of talks in Damascus over the weekend that they are willing to live next to Israel, but a top Hamas official said the group would never outright recognize the Jewish state." This is man is clearly delusional. Therefore, he should be running for his second term. He should be the democrat nominee!

Israel snubs Carter and declines security help | International | Reuters: "Ahead of his visit, Carter defended talks with Hamas. 'I think there's no doubt in anyone's mind that, if Israel is ever going to find peace with justice concerning the relationship with their next-door neighbors, the Palestinians, that Hamas will have to be included in the process,' Carter told U.S. television network ABC News's 'This Week'." If Hamas still exists, of course.

Israel snubs Carter and declines security help | International | Reuters: "JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel's secret service has declined to assist U.S. agents guarding former U.S. President Jimmy Carter during a visit in which Israeli leaders have shunned him, U.S. sources close to the matter said on Monday. Carter angered the Israeli government with plans to meet Hamas's top leader, Khaled Meshaal, in Syria, and for describing Israeli policy in the occupied Palestinian territories as 'a system of apartheid' in a 2006 book."

Carter visits battered Israel town - Yahoo! News: "'I think it's a despicable crime for any deliberate effort to be made to kill innocent civilians, and my hope is there will be a cease-fire soon,' Carter told reporters." My hope is that Israel wipes this cancer off the earth, that is Hamas.

Jeremiah Wright Sounds Off At Eulogy for Chicago Judge - America’s Election HQ

Jeremiah Wright Sounds Off At Eulogy for Chicago Judge - America’s Election HQ

Wright, who is on sabbatical before retiring from Trinity United, said America’s mistreatment of blacks is the result of the founding fathers, who “planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic.”

First reported by The Chicago Sun Times, Wright told mourners at the funeral that Thomas Jefferson, who partook in “pedophilia,” would also be considered unpatriotic these days because he wrote, “God would punish America for the sin of slavery.” He also quoted Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who said that the U.S. has a “congenital birth defect.”

Speaking of the seven lessons Pincham taught him, Wright said the judge’s faith “was not the jingoistic, chauvinistic ‘you’re either with us or against us’ demonizing kind of faith.”

“FOX News can’t understand that,” Wright said to rousing cheers and applause. “[Bill] O’Reilly will never get that. Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe. [Pincham’s] faith was a faith in a God who loved the whole world not just one country or one creed.”

Sect accused of marrying pubescent girls - Yahoo! News: "An FLDS member now living in the Texas Panhandle, Samuel Fischer, objected to the raid. The Texas investigation is the state's first of FLDS members, but prosecutors in Utah and Arizona have pursued several church members in recent years, including sect leader Warren Jeffs, who is serving two consecutive sentences of five years to life for being an accomplice to the rape of a 14-year-old wed to her cousin in Utah. He awaits trial on other charges in Arizona." Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Petraeus: New troop buildup unlikely - Yahoo! News

Petraeus: New troop buildup unlikely - Yahoo! News: "WASHINGTON - The top U.S. military commander in Iraq said Wednesday that he is unlikely to call for another troop buildup in Iraq, even if security deteriorates after the extra American soldiers return home this summer. Gen. David Petraeus told a House panel that such a move would be considered the last resort, in part because of the strain it would place on the Army. First, the military could try to reallocate existing troops to respond to any hotspots. It also would rely more on Iraqi forces, which are improving in capability, he said." Never mind the mission. This is pure politics. The increase or reduction of troops was supposed to be based on what the commanders in Iraq needed to complete the mission, irregardless of the political situation here at home. That is no longer the case. This story goes down as score for the liberals.

Petraeus wants troop drawdowns suspended - Yahoo! News

Petraeus wants troop drawdowns suspended - Yahoo! News: "Petraeus described the security situation in Iraq as improved since he last appeared before Congress in September, but still fragile and the gains reversible. He complained of Iranian support for insurgents and asserted that withdrawing U.S. forces too quickly would jeopardize security gains achieved over the past year. Petraeus also said the recent flare-up of violence in Basra, in Baghdad and elsewhere points up the importance of the cease-fire declared last year by anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and highlighted the role Iran allegedly plays in funding and training Shiite militias through cells the U.S. military calls 'special groups.' 'Unchecked, the special groups pose the greatest long-term threat to the viability of a democratic Iraq,' Petraeus said."
