Carl Levin, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, proposed legislation with Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., that would order President Bush to begin pulling out troops in 120 days and end combat by April 30, 2008." We all wish we could just wave a magic wand and declare "it's over". The democrats have been watching too much Harry Potter, because we don't live in a world like that. The consequences have been articulated very well what is going to happen if we surrender Iraq to al qaeda. Al qaeda will turn Iraq into an islamic state of their vision. They will use it as their base to launch operations to kill America. No matter how you feel about the president, we must understand that this is a war that our enemy will not quit. They must be destroyed or else we will. The truth is that it will be necessary for us to stay in Iraq for a long time. Most likely for at least a generation, maybe 30 years. The middle east must be transformed from it's current state of hatred and bitterness towards Israel and the U.S. And this will take at minimum one generation to begin the transformation. The enemy has been allowed to brain wash their children with this hatred for generations. It will take a long to time to teach them not to hate.
